Prompt II Response

This is a comfort to me:
It's two in the morning and I'm alone in my apartment. And all of a sudden I realize how alone I am. But it's too late to phone anyone. No one is online to talk to. I don't have any friends in this city. All of my friends and family are on the other side of the Rocky Mountains.
So I open up a Word document, take a dive into my subconscious, and have a conversation with a voice in my head instead.
Taken is a very down to earth character, and he listens, and he consoles.
I know he isn't real. But sometimes I really, really wish he was.

Am I the only one who sometimes wishes a particular character was real?
Is it just me?

  1. I can relate about wishing a character to be real. I used to spend days in bed, imagining far off adventures in the depths of a fantasy land with my favorite character Atyem, who first appeared in my dreams. He was tall, pale, covered in feathers, and most of all - magical. The deep meditations with him helped me build his story, which I want to share with the world once I'm more confident in my sequential art.
    ... Anyways.

    Very deep. I like it. :) I take it our timezones differ, so if you ever need someone to talk to in the wee hours of the morn, my AIM s/n is on my profile. :3

    Hope to see more from you!

  2. Ohhh no. Trust me, you're not alone in that at all.

    I think as artists/writers/whatever, it's an unsaid given that the people we create are intended to be companions of some sort. It's only natural to want them to be tangible enough to have them comfort you, if that is the type of caring nature you gave them. Even though they're not in physical form, it's at least comforting to know that we are parents of creations who have the ability to love us unconditionally, even if it's OOC of them to do so sometimes (;

    They are always at your fingertips, reaching out and touching you with theirs.

  3. I agree with Ciaran.

    I'm always wishing certain characters really existed.
